Teaching Philosophy

As a high school art teacher, my teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that art is a powerful vehicle for self-expression, critical thinking, and personal growth. My goal is to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where students feel inspired to explore their creativity while developing essential skills that extend beyond the art studio.

I’m interested in combining my passion for art and technology in teaching Graphic Design.

Teaching Method

Blended Project-Based Learning is a model in which the student uses both online learning—either in the form of courses or self-directed access—and face-to-face instruction and collaboration to design, iterate, and publish project-based learning assignments, products, and related artifacts.

This style of learning is primarily characterized by: its versatility to meet the needs of a variety of formal and informal learning processes and the use of online resources to support project-based learning.

What a wonderful first day back! I enjoyed the ZINE assignment which was a really good effort to get to know the students and allow them to break out of their shells. I am looking forward to coming back to see student work and growth. Overall this was a very productive class period and I know you will do great things.
— Ebony Johnson 8/14/23, FWISD Visual Arts Coordinator

Highlights from the Observation:

· Student Engagement: It was wonderful to witness students actively working in groups. They were on task with minimal redirections required, collaborating and supporting one another in their art projects.

· Early Finishers: I was particularly impressed with how you managed the early finishers. Providing them with assignments ensured that there was no downtime, allowing all students to remain focused and engaged throughout the lesson.

· Feedback and Support: Your movement around the classroom to provide feedback and suggestions on their artwork was commendable. This not only encouraged the students but also helped keep them on task.

· Positive Rapport: The positive rapport you have established with your students was evident. It was heartening to see how calmly you redirected students when needed, and how they responded to your guidance.

· Welcoming Environment: The overall atmosphere of your classroom was welcoming and engaging. The detailed agenda displayed on the board helped students understand the flow of the lesson, contributing to their focus.

· Classroom Organization: Lastly, I want to commend you on the organization and cleanliness of your room, especially considering it is an art class.

Keep up the awesome work you all are doing in the Art department! I think Wyatt has the best Art Department! Loved all the wonderful art displayed in the art show section. You all are really teaching so many strategies and it shows. It was great to see some of the hard work the students have done in your classrooms.

The O.D. Wyatt Art Department puts out a newsletter every six weeks. It is a great way to keep your students, parents, admin, and director informed on all the fabulous things happening in your school. Thank you O.D. Wyatt for the great idea!
