Google Classroom Work Example

This Google Classroom course offered Fort Worth ISD art teachers a flexible, project-based PD opportunity. The course engaged learners through a thought-provoking introduction, sparking curiosity and motivating exploration. The structured learning path, featuring video tutorials, project exemplars, and open-ended discussions, guided participants in exploring drink-based techniques and fostering creative experimentation. The culminating project allowed teachers to apply their newfound knowledge to their own artistic practice.

In this project, you can see my effective use of :

  • Information Organization

  • Hooking and engaging adult learners

  • Utilizing the Google Classroom LMS features (EX: questions, polls, video and resource links, and assignment submission)

  • I effectively utilized Google Classroom's asynchronous format to deliver a clear and engaging learning experience. The content was well-organized, guiding learners from start to finish. I enhanced the overall aesthetic appeal and readability of the course materials through the use of visual elements, such as a custom title page and text formatting.

I created three comprehensive video tutorials to instruct learners on various drink-based painting techniques. By incorporating a poll to engage learners at the outset and an open-ended question to foster discussion, I enriched the learning experience. Encouraging learner participation and sharing created a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

I accommodated diverse learners by encouraging alternatives to paint with wine because I’m aware that some adults choose not to drink or keep alcohol. Of course, wine can’t be used in the classroom either.

User Feedback: “Thanks for the cool lesson” A few of the learners reached out to me through email after the course or in person sharing that they enjoyed the novelty of the course and would be utilizing their learning with their students.

  • I successfully delivered a comprehensive online course that met the learning objectives. However, to further enhance future projects, I identify a few areas for growth.

While the course provided a valuable learning experience, the relatively low number of participants limited the opportunity to showcase a larger impact. In future projects, I will aim to engage a broader audience to demonstrate a wider reach.

To gain a deeper understanding of the learner experience, I will incorporate methods such as smile sheets or course completion surveys. This feedback will inform future course design and improvement.

As the district's professional development offerings have evolved, the course has been archived. While some links may be outdated, the core content remains relevant and can be adapted for future use.

In the course playthrough, I prioritized learner privacy by avoiding the disclosure of personal information, such as comments, coursework, and grades.
